A vortex mixer, also known as a vortexer, is a laboratory device that is used to mix small vials of liquid by means of rapid oscillation. It consists of a motor that drives an eccentric cam, which creates a circular or elliptical motion on the top of the mixer. When a vial is placed on the top of the mixer, the rapid oscillation creates a vortex in the liquid, which mixes the liquid evenly.
